Accessing eLibrary Resources
To access HSELibrary e-resources you need an 'Athens' account*.
OpenAthens is a one-stop shop to the wide range of electronic resources provided by the National Health Library & Knowledge Service. These include electronic books, bibliographic databases, electronic journals and point-of-care tools.
If you don't have an account, you can Apply for an Athens account online.
You will need:
- A valid email address - if you use a personal email account, your Athens Account will need to be authorized
- Your HSE employee number
- When registering you will need to choose your geographic area and the hospital or service where you work
Using your Athens username and password, you can then access online resources listed on our homepage, www.hselibrary.ie or in our resources guide.
*Access to some resources may not require an Athens account if accessing from a HSE site. However we strongly encourage you to apply for an Athens Account to assure access.
