Introduction to HSE Library Services

Welcome to HSE Library Services

Learn how to access HSE library books and electronic resources, use our e-Library to research a specific topic, find a specific journal or articles and learn more about our Point of Care clinical decision making tools.

Access is provided via our website and homepage

We are dedicated to helping you find material to support your clinical work, evidence-based practice, patient care, PPPGs and research during your time in the health service.

The National Health Library and Knowledge Service (NHLKS) is made up of a national team of librarians and library staff. We work to ensure that the best possible research and evidence underpins decision making and advances patient care in the health service.

In order to access the HSE Library's electronic resources, you must have an OpenAthens account.

'OpenAthens' is a one-stop shop to the wide range of electronic resources provided by the National Health Library & Knowledge Service. These include electronic books, electronic journals, bibliographic databases and point-of-care tools.

Having an OpenAthens account means that a single login will unlock all our electronic resources.
