Accessing Library Resources : Guides

Health Library Ireland (formerly HSE Library) provides online, reliable information resources to healthcare staff in many organisations outside the HSE. 

You will need a HSE OpenAthens account. To register

• use https://tinyurl.com/hliathens
• read the notes below

1. Select your organisation under 'Please select your library service'.

If it's not there, choose 'Related organisations', and then the correct location

2. Use your organisational email to register (e.g. Joan.Bloggs@smh.ie)

If you use a personal email address, an administrator will have to manually approve your account.

3. Activate your account.

When your account has been approved, you will receive an email with your username and a link to set a password.

Once your Athens account is registered, approved and activated you can start accessing resources. The best way is to login to your MyAthens account. It may also be possible to access resources using computers on your organisations internal network.
